Redondo Beach's District 5 News
by Laura Emdee, City Councilmember
Our diverse community is a friendly neighborhood that values tradition, safety, and education. I am a long time neighbor who has lived, worked and volunteered in our district for over 27 years. I have honorably served on our School Board, earned an MBA and have considerable policy experience. I understand the challenges and opportunities we face.
As your Councilmember for the last four years, I have brought the focus back to the north side of town. Our Artesia Corridor is looking much better through the Storefront Improvement Program, and public improvements such as drought tolerant medians, new benches, and light poles have beatified the Artesia Corridor. We also-
- Ensured Anderson Park will be ADA compliant by April 2019.
- Saw a nearly 41% reduction in counted homeless
- The Southern California Edison Bike Path beautification project will have shovels in the ground by May.
- Confirmed $7.2 million investment in our roads in 2019 and 2020
My priorities are and will continue to be focused on quality of life issues for the residents of District 5 and Redondo Beach.
- Investment in infrastructure
- Fiscally Minded/Balance Budget
- Investing in Small Businesses
- Public Safety
I am running for re-election to continue being your district 5 council representative and I will need your support to build upon the great work we’ve been doing. This election will be an all-mail-in ballot on March 5, 2019. Below you will see voter resources and ways you may support my campaign.
I look forward to earning your vote!
