News from the County: Safer at Home Order Extended
Safer at Home Order Extended Until May 15th
LA County’s “Safer at Home” Order has been extended until at least May 15th so we can continue flattening the curve and prevent COVID-19 from overwhelming our hospitals.
The good news is that our efforts are working and that we are “flattening the curve”. Our case count is growing, but the rate of transmission is slowing.
So far, we have been able to prevent a surge of cases from overwhelming our healthcare system.
But that does not mean we can become complacent. If we stopped physical distancing today, the transmission would take off exponentially and by August 1st, 95% of LA County residents would be infected.
Extending the “Safer at Home” Order prevents this from becoming a reality.
I want to thank you once again for your understanding and cooperation during this time. I know this is difficult — but it is the best tool that we have to fight this virus and save lives.
We will get through this together.
