January 2018 Community Meeting Recap

January 2018 Community Meeting Recap:

We had a great meeting with about 60 residents at our January 20, 2018 meeting. Police Chief Keith Kauffman answered resident concerns and informed us about Police programs available. For example, there is a meet up site at the RB Police Station. If you are selling or buying something to or from a stranger, meet them at the RB Police Station Meet Up site. The site is on camera and provides a secure location for your transaction to be done safely. Also, Chief Kauffman let us know about the Ring Doorbell discount program. We currently have exhausted the first program funding but the Chief is looking at other funding sources. So keep the applications coming. (I sent you a picture under another email from Google Photo)

The City presented the road repaving guidelines. We are trying to maintain the good roads while repairing our poor roads. We have established a 20/80 rule where 20% of the repaving projects goes towards maintenance while 80% goes towards replacements or slurry. I made the motion and the council accepted we also add $500,000 for roads that may not be on the list but we feel need to be moved up the list. I will need your help on getting more money for North Redondo at the CIP Public Hearing on June 5th at 6pm, Council Chambers, 415 Diamond Street, 90277.

At our next meeting, Public Works Director Ted Semaan will present the timeline and plans for the bike path improvements, the Artesia Blvd improvements and the results of the Traffic Circle Survey. Our next meeting will be on Thursday, March 8, 6pm, at the RB Performing Arts Center.
