He Said What!?

Let’s address the misinformation being viciously spread about my term as your City Council District 5 representative because you deserve the truth.

My opponent is a complete unknown. What has he done for the community? Not much based on the negativity and lies being spread by his campaign. He has no solutions, just unfounded criticism. It is easy to criticize when you haven’t done any of the work and you don’t understand the complexities.

By removing context from financial numbers and intentionally misrepresenting policy decisions, he attempts to show that I’m fiscally irresponsible and personally benefiting from developers. I have never benefitted from any developer; my opponent is depending on untruths and misrepresentations to earn your vote.

Meanwhile, I am focused on you and our neighborhood. North Redondo Beach is an excellent neighborhood and we are known as the “Happy District”. While we are happy people, we often feel overshadowed and forgotten by the city and the press.

When I ran for office four years ago, one of my goals was to bring money and projects to our part of town. The first part of my term was spent securing the funding and city support. Over the next 6-12 months, we will see the results of that effort with many shovels in the ground. You have already seen the beginnings of our transformation in Artesia Blvd’s public space upgrades, Anderson Park improvement, and new bike path lights.

For the past 28 years, I have been an active neighbor in this community: Redondo Beach PTAs, Redondo Beach School Board, RB AYSO, Scouts, RB Woman’s Club, RB Kiwanis, and Sand Tots Preschool Board. I am completely devoted to our neighborhood and I have the track record to show for it.

Be assured, I have NO financial ties to development interests. Every decision I make comes after careful examination, with protecting our quality of life as the objective.

Our public safety is my priority and as a result, I am endorsed by the RB Police Officers Association. I also have earned the endorsement of the LA League of Conservation Voters for my pro-environment policy decisions and I have earned the endorsement of BizFed for my fiscal policies.

You deserve a Councilmember who will put you first. If you agree, I need your vote, please mail in your ballot today! This election will be determined by a few votes and your vote counts.

Your vote must be in the mail by March 5th and is critical to continue making improvements in our quality of life.

Thank you for your support.

    Good letter Laura.
I wish I still lived in District 5 so I could vote for you. Unfortunately I live in District 1.
But I will try to encourage anyone from your district to vote for you
All my best wishes, and may good fortunes be bestowed upon you in all your endeavors!
    Ernie.

I stumbled onto this page while researching before voting. Thank you for your clear words and direct dealing. After reading your article on the Fun Factory and Pier issues with accompanying timeline, you have won my vote. I am saddened at the dirty politics and blatant lies being spread. It seems that even in my hometown, greed overshadows. It is my fervent hope that continued transparency and a desire to serve the entire community will win over ugly and evil. We are better than this….here is to proving it!
