Water restrictions meant we were not allowed to water our medians. Our grass died and our trees looked sad.
We were able to pull money from the Capital Improvement Budget to install a low water, drought-approved watering system. The City replaced grass with drought-tolerant plants.
This project is part of the larger plan to beautify Artesia.
The City provided incentives to help and encourage business owners to improve their storefronts. It was a very welcomed program. Many stores applied and are using the program.
The light poles, the street signs and the public amenities such as benches are all getting facelifts.
Next, the 2 areas of the SCE right-of-way (bike path) just north and south of Artesia will get a facelift similar to the medians.
